Rakesh B. Patel, MD, FACC, FCCP, FAHA
Interventional Cardiology

After completing his pre-medical education at G.L.S. Higher Secondary School in 1984, Dr. Patel went on to B.J. Medical College in Amedabad, India, where he received his M.B.B.S. in 1990. He received post graduate training in internal medicine/dermatology at Civil Hospital/B.J. Medical College. In 1992, he became certified under the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. In 1992, Dr. Patel came to the United States where he received post graduate training in internal medicine at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn , NY. In July of 1993, Dr. Patel began his internship at Stony Brook University Hospital, became Chief Resident in 1996, and completed his fellowship in cardiology and interventional cardiology in 2001. In that time, he performed over 2,000 cardiac catheterizations and over 800 angioplasties. Dr. Patel is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, and interventional cardiology. He currently practices at Suffolk Heart Group with privileges at North Shore University Hospital Manhasset, Southside Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, and Winthrop University Hospital.
